Devlog 1 - Where am I going?

This is the first devlog of the "Where am I going?" game.

In this game you are an alien that need to collect some Earth's items in order to do some experiments. To do so you have to defend your self from the angry citizens of the different places and times that you travel. For your luck, some of the objects thrown at you are the items you need for your weird alien science.

It is some kind of a shooter (but you defend?)

I am making this game for the Vim Jam, the theme is "There and Back" and the main focus is "Collectables". I am in a solo journey and let's see how this will turn out.

The first two days are gone

The first two days had already pass by and I am already behind my schedule.

Unfortunately I cant dedicate all of my days in making the game (and I am really sad about that), but I am doing my best.

My main focus on this Jam is to improve my skills on 2D art and Unity knowledge, i also had decided before the jam begins that I would use only a 5 colors pallete for the entire game. The pallete I am using is:

5 Colors Pallete

So the first day i passed thinking about the theme "There and Back" and how to put it together with the jam focus "Collectables". And it doesn't took so long before I came with the idea of an Alien moving through the time and space. After that  i made the main assets of the game,  and we have some really cut assets in here:

And it was that for the first day.

For the second day I had focus on the coding. So I finally create the Unity's project and started to put on the assets. In the morning i put on the base movement of the player and made some enemys to shoot at him.

I still needed to make the corn disappear when colliding with the player and adjust the direction of the aim, but this effect was really fun to watch.

In the evening I worked on improve a little this things that I had already implemented, so i made the changes I mentioned above and also add a explosion when the player collide with the bullets. (I used particles, that I had never use before and it was a lot of fun). This is the result for now:

I still have a lot to do, but I am really enjoying the development until now.
